The integrity of the Government suffered another serious blow over the star ferry pier issue. A consultant's report stating the historical and cultural value of the pier was deliberately hidden from the public.
What the hell is wrong with our Government !!!!
At the moment there are people protesting at the construction site of the pier, including some legislators. However, I have no hope of saving the tower as our Government seldom listen to people's voices. Good luck to them......
I must also admit that many people supported the decision to tear it down as it is a symbol of the old colonial regime. Well......I wonder......it seems to me that many Asians have a tendency to erase traces of history (especial those ungraceful ones). See the Japanese...our so-called mother country....and now adds to the list, the Hong Kong-ese......

About GST
Today the Government suddenly put a stop to the consultation of GST. Ha, this is interesting. I wonder why......even if it really encountered intense adverse comments from the public, the consultation can still continue. Why do they stop it so abruptly? Many people understand that......political reasons, of course.
To me, I think GST is viable, but the system need to accomodate the demand of the poor. Daily necessities such as food and grocery items should be exempted so that daily life of people won't be affected. The leverage of the tax may focus on luxury goods, clothing or high-end electronics in the first stage. This can shut the month of those opponents who always use the poor as their king cards to win support and popularity blindly, while overseeing problems in the society.
The reasons and justifications put up by the Government are also ridiculous and in no way convincing. No doubt it gained no support in the society. The lack of good policy and thorough proposal made the GST destinied for failure. So where comes the money? Who knows. This is another proof that our Chief Executive is not doing anything for the good of HK, but only for the good of his own future. I don't like him.
